Cafe Wok Inn Fish & Chips

2nd Oct 2009

This western food stall is situated in a coffee shop at Lor 4 Toa Payoh and was being featured in TV programs like Coffee Talk & Hawker Woks, Heartland Getaway & also write-up from the papers too. I went there 2 weeks ago to try and was glad that I got my order within 10 mins. Maybe the rave has cooled down...

Fish & Chips - S$5.80

The dory fillet was quite a large portion served with fries & coleslaws and for only S$5.80 I think was rather value for money. It was very lightly battered, outer was crispy & the inner fish meat was moist. In fact too moist for my liking which make the fish lost it's crispiness even before I finished up. A bit too bland for my liking too and the vinegar sauce also very diluted. I'm not sure is it authentic style Old English Fish & Chips suppose to taste like this... The fries were nice but the coleslaw was not very fresh which turn me off. Overall, it was just so so only, not enough to impress my palate. Maybe I will come back to try other items which look not bad on the menu like the spaghetti & roast rosemary chicken.
