Saizeriya Ristorante E Caffe

3rd Nov 2009

An enjoyable and value for money weekday dinner at Saizeriya - serving not only affordable but rather cheap Italian Japanese food. I heard and read quite a few good reviews about them so went to try it out on a weekday night as it's usually very packed on weekends. The restaurant decoration was simple and not very attractive but the menu is definitely appealing especially the pricing. We were quite surprise that the quality of the food was not too bad and the service was very good too. Definitely listing them under one of our favourite value for money restaurant. Almost everything listed in the menu are below $10.00 except for the rib steak. You can order quite a few items without worrying about the bill later. Most of the items we ordered that night are their best seller as stated in the menu so generally all are quite nice and with the kind of price we paid, we think the food standard was more than good.

Oven-Baked Escargot - S$5.58

Indonesian Escargot in Special garlic butter sauce. Empty the balance garlic butter into the pasta if you order one just give it extra flavour. Yummy!

Shrimp Cocktail Salad - S$2.58 (S)

Iceberg lettuce, romaine lettuce, cherry tomatoes and northern shrimps in special blend thousand island sauce. Very refreshing and appetising, we all love the sweetness of the shrimps.

Oven-Baked Spicy Sausages - S$5.58

Their signature sausages with grilled potatoes. Nothing special, not spicy at all and a bit oily but the potatoes are very nice.

Mushroom Stew Hamburger Steak - S$7.98

3 types of mushrooms with special beef stew, hamburger made with ground beef without adding any artificial flavouring. One of the popular dish among the reviews I read. Personally I find the sauce was a bit overpowering though the hamburger steak was very juicy and tender. Not bad but can't eat much.

Japanese Grilled Pork - S$6.98

Sliced porks in special ginger sauce. This would be nice to go with rice but eat it alone was a bit too oily. The pork used were the belly part so for those who don't like the fats, aftering discarding the fats, you only left with half the pork. The side was nice especially the corn.

Peperoncino Bacon Spaghetti - S$5.98

Bacon with special peperoncino sauce. This was very nice, surprisingly the pasta was cooked till al dente. It was even more flavourful if you add some parmesan cheese & chilli flakes.

Pineapple & Bacon Pizza - S$6.98

Not the authentic Italian type but was nice. They were very generous with the topping and cheese.

Drink Bar at S$2.58 per pax, you can have free flow of softdrinks, juices, tea, coffee & milo at the drink station. However, you can choose to have ice water too which is FOC but self service.

The bill total up to $56 for the above order served 4 of us so was about $14.oo/pax. Super value for money and you get to taste so many things. We enjoyed so much that we were back again few days later on my birthday!
