A best friend's birthday...

12 Feb 2011

It's my best friend H's birthday! On day like this, we will definitely make it a point to spend together. Our itinerary for the day was...

Strawberry Shortcake (Valerie's recipe)

To meet at her place for breakie at 9am. I baked a cake for her, a simple one using Korean strawberries! As I still have to make some sushi for lunch so I had to wake up very early. The sponge cake was baked on the night before. In the morning, just need to dress it up. Haha... actually wanted to cream the whole cake to be more presentable but don't know what happened to my dairy cream, simply couldn't whip up so that's the best I can do...lol! Thankfully, they enjoyed the cake very much! After cake cutting ceremony with her family, our next destination was to Singapore Zoo...! This was included in the itinerary because my dear friend mentioned causally that it's been years since we last visited the zoo. Haha... so we went to fulfil her wish...lol!

We arrived at the zoo at 12 noon and left around 4 plus. It was raining heavily in the late afternoon so we did not get to see some of the animals and only managed to catch one showtime - The Asian Elephant Show. Quite entertaining and the elephants are so cute!

I prepared some kimbap and salad for lunch. We had picnic at the zoo! Really like kids...lol! My buddy loves to eat my kimbap and every time we had gathering she will request for it. So when we planned for picnic at zoo, I don't have to think much, just make kimbap!

Korean Seaweed Rolls (Kimbap)

Smoked Duck Salad

We went back to her place for some rest after the zoo before we went for dinner at The French Stall @ Macpherson.... coming up next!
