Swatow Restaurant located in Toa Payoh Central specialised in Teochew cuisine and serve dim sum as early as 8am in the morning daily. Dim sums are served in traditional push cart style, there are a total of 63 items on the menu from steamed items, fried items, rice rolls, congee & dessert to choose from. Sometimes I preferred to order from menu instead as you don't have to wait till the cart comes to you which at times really took a while. We were there on a weekend morning around 10 am and the restaurant was already quite packed. However dim sum quality was not as good as expected. Of all the items we ordered, only the porridge and egg tarts were nice.
Prawn Dumpling - S$4.00++
The dumplings were oversteamed, skin was broken when picked up and prawns were not nice too.
Pan Fried Meat Dumpling - S$4.00++
The dumpling skin was too thick for our liking.
Fresh Prawns Rice Flour Roll - S$4.00++
Sauce was too salty...
Fried Glutinous Rice - S$4.00++
Lack fragant...
Sliced Fish Congee - S$4.00++
This was good, smooth and sweet tasting.
Custard & Egg Yolk Buns - S$2.50++
The buns were a bit dry and the filling were a bit too sweet.
Mini Egg Tarts - S$3.00++
This was nice with buttery pastry & smooth custard.

Maybe we just didn't order the right items...
I have tried their dim sum a few months back and indeed it is not bad.
