Another worthy recipe to try from "Cooking with dog"!
Medium rare steak with homemade onion ponzu sauce, saute onion with mushroom and lettuce over steamy hot Japanese multigrain rice! So good! Oishii!
Ingredients: (serves 2)
2 cuts of 100g Steak - beef tenderloin or sirloin (leave in room temperature for an hour before frying)
Salt & black pepper
80g Onion (sliced)
50g Shitake mushroom (sliced)
2 Lettuce Leaves (sliced coarsely)
Onion Ponzu Sauce:
2 cuts of 100g Steak - beef tenderloin or sirloin (leave in room temperature for an hour before frying)
Salt & black pepper
80g Onion (sliced)
50g Shitake mushroom (sliced)
2 Lettuce Leaves (sliced coarsely)
Onion Ponzu Sauce:
2 tbsp Sake
3 tbsp Grated Onion
3 tbsp Ready Ponzu Sauce
½ tbsp Grated Garlic
½ tbsp Butter
2 bowl Cooked Japanese Rice
3 tbsp Grated Onion
3 tbsp Ready Ponzu Sauce
½ tbsp Grated Garlic
½ tbsp Butter
2 bowl Cooked Japanese Rice
Method:
1. Sprinkle steak with salt and pepper, heat up pan with 1 tbsp olive oil. Pan seared steak till both side nicely brown. Depend on thickness of steak, mine took about 3-4 mins each side. Cover the cooked steak with foil and set aside.
2. Using the same pan, add some olive oil to sauteed the sliced onion and mushroom till nicely coated with oil and brown. Season with salt and pepper. Dish out and set aside.
3. Using the same pan again to make the sauce, add in sake and let it simmer awhile to evaporate the alcohol. Add in grated onion and garlic, let it heat through. Add in ponzu sauce and butter. Simmer till butter melted. Pour into a sauce bowl and set aside.
4. Place the cooked rice in a deep rice bowl, top with fresh sliced lettuce, saute onion with mushroom and sliced beef. Serve with the homemade onion ponzu sauce.
Enjoy!
