The Cliff at The Sentosa Resort

There are still quite a few Aug '09 backlog not posted yet, getting very lazy recently in updating my blog. This is one of them. Celebrating one of my best friends' birthday on 27th Aug 2009. She was given a surprise one night stay & a spa session at The Sentosa Resort & Spa (previously known as Sentosa Beautford Hotel) by her company. It's her 36th birthday and her thoughtful subordinates prepared a treasure box that contain 36 gifts which include all the necessities she need for the night stay. Wow wow so shiok right! That's explained why we were at The Sentosa to celebrate her birthday.

The birthday girl gave us a treat at The Cliff located in the hotel. This was one of the few fine dining for me. This alfresco style restaurant is perched on a cliff overlooking the sea and the ambience is just gorgeous with gentle sea breezes blowing through out the night. Definitely great for a romantic getaway. They served creative fine seafood cuisine with a modern french flair and of course wine too.

The dinner started of with some complimentary bread rolls served w/olive oil & curry powder dip and appetizer was Parma ham w/watercress. Sorry for the badly taken photos as the restaurant lighting was really very dim.

It's sound weird to dip in curry powder but surprisingly was quite nice and acceptable.

It's a simple tomota puree soup top with some garlicky foamy stuff on top. My friend playfully turn it into a heart shape.

Pan Roasted Black Cod

We all ordered different main course. The birthday had this, Pan roasted black cod to perfection served w/puree of potato, leek and bacon ragout & potato lattice. This dish was done perfectly and almost flawless in our opinion.

Crisp Skin 'Bar De Ligne'

Atiantic Sea Bass served w/dried olive sabayon & wild mushroom - artichoke ragout. The fish was also done perfectly and was really fresh but the sauce was a tad too salty.

Tasmanian Lamb Rack

Lamb Rack was done medium well which was juicy and tender. Served w/cedar potato mash, aubergine puree, tomato confit tartare & crisp polenta. This is another popular main course but somehow I find the lamb was a bit gamey to me.

A Study In Kurobuta Pork

What an interesting name and this was what I ordered. Kurobuta Pork presented in 3 different way - Bacon wrapped rib eye, crisp toulade of confit shoulder & cider braised belly served w/ fennel 'risotto' & braised apples. Among the 3, I prefered the bacon wrapped rib eye and the fennel risotto complimented the pork really well.

My friend was given a complimary slice of chocolate cake for her birthday and the serving staff even sang a birthday song for her. Their service were good, very attentive and warming that made you feel completely relaxed & at ease.

We had a wonderful night chilling out at The cliff and definitely hoping to revisit them again of course will only be on special occasion as it's really not cheap to dine there. Prepared to spend at least $150 per person.
