Japan Trip - Day 2 dinner

18th Sep 2009 (Day 1/2)

We were on a Best of Honshu 7 days tour by Hong Thai. Almost 90% of the meals were provided. After a day of fun & food at Tokyo Disneyland, we were on our way to Tokyo city to have dinner, then check-in hotel.

Our 1st dinner in Tokyo was not Japanese food but Chinese food in a very small Taiwan Family Restaurant - Wah Wang Restaurant! This was the so called Abalone & Shark fin dinner we had as stated in the itinerary:

Abalone & Mushroom in oyster sauce

Fried Chicken in garlic soya sauce

Sweet & Sour Prawn

Braised Pork w/green vegetables

Preserved Raddish Omelette

Stir Fry Cabbage

Shark fin soup

The food was generally very home-cooking and most of us enjoyed except for the shark fin soup which was rather bland and almost finless. However, this meal turned to be the most satisfying one provided by Hong Thai throughout the trip. At least better than eating tempura, breaded prawn & chawamushi almost everyday or at least continuously for 3-4 days ...

Looks very delicious. Agree with you it's very much like home cooking, not what I think of a Japanese meal of tempura, sushi udon etc. Glad that you had a satisfying meal.
