Dim Sum @ Jia Wei - Part I

3rd Dec 2009

Jia Wei situated on Level 2 of Grand Mercure Roxy Hotel at East Coast Road. Serving rather decent chinese cuisine and has been around for almost 2 years. I was there on a weekday work lunch with my boss and colleagues. This is a very peaceful and quiet place to have a relaxing lunch as the ambience is superb. My boss decided to try the dim sum and Peking Duck which was highly recommended by the Manager.

Appetizer - French bean w/Dry Beancurb & Peanut

This was tasty and we requested for 2nd serving.

Crispy Silver Baits

Very crispy and addictively yummy.

Steamed Fresh Prawn Dumplings

Though the skin was still intact and chewy but the prawn filling was a bit dry and bland.

Steamed Snow Pea Shoot & Scallop Dumplings

The skin was too sticky and starchy. Can't really taste the scallop filling.

Steamed Pork Dumping w/Crab Roe

I'm definitely not a fan of pork dumpling but this was rather good.

Among the 3 dumplings, the Pork dumping w/Crab Roe was the winner.
Steamed BBQ Pork Bun

This is a must order for most but not for me. I can do without this for dum sum. This was not bad. Soft bun with tasty & juicy char siew filling.
Fried Carrot Cake w/XO Sauce

This was just like what we get from the hawker stall. Suppose to fry with XO sauce but cannot taste any at all and was bland too.
Steamed "Jing Chuan" Dumpling in Spicy Sauce

The sauce was a disappointment. Not spicy at all and the dumpling skin was too thick for my liking.
