The Palms @ S'pore Swimming Club

24 May 2010

One of my bosses brought a few of us to his club - Singapore Swimming Club for lunch. The Palms which only open to members is a coffeehouse that serves local and western cuisines. The food was not so fantastic but rather value for money as it's generally cheaper than outside. The serving portions are huge too for the price charged. The main course mostly priced less than $20 and local delights are under $10. The cakes though tasted ordinary are mostly at $3/slice which I think was really cheap. A great place for regular family gathering in a cosy ambiance. Too bad is not open to public as I was told.

Pork Chops

My choice -Grilled pork chop with brown sauce served with grilled asparagus, baby potatoes and button mushroom. The sauce was nice but the pork was overcooked as it was tough and dry.

Grilled Fish

Grilled fish with pumpkin puree served with grilled asparagus and mushrooms.
Roast Chicken

Roast Chicken with brown sauce served with roast vegetables and mushroom.
Grilled Salmon & Spaghetti in Cream Sauce

Grilled salmon with creamy spaghetti. I tried some and find that the pasta and salmon was overcooked. The cream sauce was quite bland too. I think was the worst dish of the day.
Laksa

My boss had this and commented that it was good as the sauce was really thick and fragrant.

Tiramisu

Strawberry Light Cheesecake

Chempadak Cake
The strawberry cheesecake was the best among the 3 cakes we shared. It was light and creamy.
