Lawry's The Prime Rib

6th Nov 2010

An early birthday celebration with my buddies at Lawry's The Prime Rib. A great venue to celebrate birthday as the ambiance and service are almost perfect. Furthermore there are in-house promotion when you visit during birthday month! The promotion includes a complimentary birthday dessert, a digital photo shoot and discount on the main course.

Lawry's has been around since 1999 and used to be at Paragon, now relocated to Mandarin Gallery. Reservation is a must especially on weekends. It was a wonderful and quality dining experience in term of food, service and ambiance. We truly enjoyed ourselves very much. Thank you buddies for the treat!

Complimentary Bread

The dinner kicked off with bread and butter.

The Famous Original Spinning Bowl Salad

All Lawry's main courses come with this salad. Haha... manage get a shoot of this famous Lawry's gesture. Actually quite dramatic, anyway quite cool and entertaining too.

Crisp romaine and iceberg lettuce, shredded beets, chopped eggs, cherry tomatoes and croutons, tossed with exclusive Lawry’s vintage dressing on a bed of ice and top with signature black pepper seasoning. The salad was very cooling light and appetising too!

The Lawry's Cut

I had the traditional and popular Lawry' cut at medium rare. The rib was served with Idaho Mashed Potatoes & Brown Gravy. It was done perfectly, the cut was juicy and tender. The sauce was pretty light and not overpowering so I can taste the natural sweetness of the beef. Delightful!

Yorkshire Pudding / Whipped Cream Horseradish

I didn't request for the side dishes as I don't really like pea and corn. Anyway the rib came with the Yorkshire pudding. It was baked in small skillets until puffy and golden brown, went very well with the beef and mashed potato sauce. Didn't really touch on the whipped cream as the rib was good enough on its own.

Australian Rack Of Lamb

J had this and she liked it. We tried to order different main course so we can share. That's the privilege of dining with close friends. The lamb was tender, juicy & flavourful with pistachio breaded crust & balsamic red wine reduction. A great alternative to beef.

Kurobuta Baby Back Ribs

F had the BBQ ribs with fresh creamy coleslaw & fries. Portion was big. I tried some and find it a bit too sweet for my liking but the meat was moist and tender.

My the other friend H had the festive menu set which I will post it up in my next post.

Strawberry English Trifle
- Complimentary Birthday Dessert

The cake was presented quite dramatically too. A group of three serving staffs gathered at our table and sang the birthday song to me, followed by a photo shoot. Quite touching as the smiles on their faces were so heartwarming. The English trifle were layers of sponge cake, laced with Rum, Sherry, vanilla custard cream, strawberries, and fresh whipped cream. The strawberry sauce was a bit sweet if not was not too bad.

Lawry's Crepe Suzette (For Two)

Lawry's signature and traditional dessert that took 15 mins to prepare. Cooked in Lawry's style at the tableside, with melted butter, golden sugar, freshly squeezed orange and lemon juice. Flambéed to perfection…with a dash of Brandy & Grand Marnier.

This was really good. The crepe was serve with vanilla ice cream and fresh banana.

A selection of Gryphon Artisan Tea

Ended our evening with Gryphon tea and Italian coffee. The praline chocolate that was served with the drink was pretty nice too.
