PeraMakan


PeraMakan is definitely one of my family favourites Peranakan restaurant in Singapore.  



Celebrated Ah gor birthday at PeraMakan sometimes ago. Most the dishes we tried were well executed except for the desserts were rather mediocre. We spend about SGD35 per person.


Hee Peow Soup


Fish maws are cooked in chicken & fish stock and served with home-made prawn balls, pork balls and fish balls. Love all the balls and the soup was flavourful! 


Bakwan Kepiting


Minced pork mixed with mackerel, crabmeat and bamboo shoots and cooked in chicken & fish stock. As good as the Hee Peow Soup. 


Ayam Buah Keluak


Star dish of the evening which my family gave thumb up. The sauce was so good with rice. Chicken braised with the black pulp of Buah Keluak also known as Indonesian black nut. This is my aunt and brother all time favourite Peranakan dish! Here, they do the dish the traditional way. The nut pulp is combined with spices before they are pushed back into the nuts to be cooked along with the chicken.


Beef Rendang


One of the signature dish at PeraMakan! The beef was braised till tender and flavourful in spicy coconut gravy and served topped with toasted spicy grated coconut. 


Lamb Rendang


The lamb shank rendang was as good too! 


Ayam Rendang


Chicken rendang for my aunts who don't take beef and lamb.  


Ikan Garam Assam


My favourite dish for the evening went to this Assam fish. The sauce was appetizing with the right level of  sourness and spiciness! 


Sotong Panggang


Cousin favourite dish! Whole sotong seasoned with spices and grilled to perfection. Served topped with sambal sauce and a nyonya salad. 


Sayur Nangka Masak Lemak


My uncle and aunt love this very much and commented my late granny used to cook this too! They really miss this dish! Young jackfruit cooked in spicy gravy with coconut milk. Served with prawns.


Nyonya Chap Chye


Cabbage, taukee, kim cham, black fungus and tanghoon stewed in taucheo gravy is our comfort food!
