A sumptuous farewell lunch for FL at Taste Paradise, a treat given by my boss. Taste Paradise is a contemporary Chinese restaurant serving exquisite Cantonese fare located at Mosque Street in Chinatown area. We were informed by the manager that they will be shifting out soon to join the Ion branch.
There are many good reviews on them since it started in Jan 2006 and friends been telling me how they love the Signature Shark's Fin soup. Finally get a chance to try it myself. Went with high expectation and glad that they did not disappoint. The restaurant is rather small with limited seats though private dining rooms are available. The manager who served us was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant ambiance was nice and cosy too. We had the Signature set lunch and an additional side order of Beijing duck which was highly recommended by the manager to try. It's definitely a pleasant dining experience and will definitely love to come back for the shark's fin soup.
Appetizer - Grilled Soy Sauce Cod Fish with Fruit Salad
This was so tasty and apppetising. I wish we were served with a bigger portion...lol!

Nicely rolled and served to us.
This was really good. One of the best Beijing duck I had recently. I like the way it was neatly rolled up that made it so easy to eat. The crepe hold on to the crispy duck skin nicely, complimented well with the sweet sauce and spring onion. A must try!

Baked Hokkaido Scallop with Salted Egg Yolk on Bed of Avocado Salad
Salted egg and avocado salad, both were very rich tasting. In fact a bit too rich for my palate though the scallop was nice. The scallop was baked to perfection, golden-brown and crispy on the outside, tender on the inside.
Classic Superior Shark's Fin in Supreme Broth Accompanied with Crispy Spring Roll served in Japanese Stone Pot
Classic Superior Shark's Fin in Supreme Broth Accompanied with Crispy Spring Roll served in Japanese Stone Pot
I can see why this is their bestseller. Double boiled shark's fin soup with lots of quality ingredients like fish maw and abalone. Very generous portion of the shark's fin served in each pot. It had a remarkably rich and flavourful broth, utlimately satisfying and delicious. The stone pot keep the soup hot for 20mins so the last sip was as delicious as the first. The crispy spring roll was a delight to munch on and paired well with the soup too.
US Kurobuta Pork served in Special Home Made Sauce
US Kurobuta Pork served in Special Home Made Sauce
The pork was very tender but the sauce a bit too sweet and oily for my liking.
Stewed Thin Noodles with Live King Prawn
Stewed Thin Noodles with Live King Prawn
We were quite full when this was served. This was another very rich flavoured dish. prawn was rather fresh, it was saute with black sweet sauce served over stewed thin noodles.
Mango Puree with Coconut Ice Cream
Mango Puree with Coconut Ice Cream
The mango puree was too thick for my liking. Coconut ice cream was ordinary.
Papaya with Sea Coconut
Papaya with Sea Coconut
This was more refreshing and pleasant than the mango puree dessert.
