The Ultimate Crab and Durian Buffet @ Sentosa Boardwalk

Just went to this very much rave about buffet last evening with colleagues. This special promotion buffet organised by Sentosa features two of Singaporean's favourites - Crab & Durian. As this buffet only valid from 9th to 26th June 2011, so I schedule to share this dining experience first instead of my backlogs!

The buffet is located at the upper Promontory of Sentosa Boardwalk. The al fresco ambiance is great with harbourview overseeing Sentosa and Vivocity. The setting is typical buffet setup and due to the overwhelming responses, the food ran low pretty fast but they were quick to top up. Service crews were all friendly and helpful. However the food was not as good as expected but the durians did manage to impress! If you are a durian lover then this buffet is still worth trying given it the rather reasonable pricing.

It was really crowded so I only manage to snap a few pictures of the spread.

Wok-Fried Chilli Sri Lankan Crab

The sauce was good but the crab quality was disappointing, rather small in size. We were wondering was it really Sri Lankan crab? The crab meat was soft and mushy instead of firm and flaky.

Salted Egg Yolk Crab

This was slightly better than the chilli crab probably because it was deep fried.

Crayfish in Black Bean Sauce

The crayfish was not very fresh and the meat was bland tasting.

 Fresh Oyster &
Cold Appetizers (Baby Octopus, Marinated Topshells & Braised Soya Duck Salad)

The oyster was small but cold appetizers were all very well executed.

Salmon Sashimi & Hot Appetizer (Spring Rolls, Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab & Crab Nail)

Salmon sashimi was pathetically sliced, soft shell crab was cold and too floury but the spring rolls and crab nails were quite a delight as it was warm and crispy.

Roast Beef & Whole Baked Salmon

Salmon was baked to perfection but the beef was way over done.

Prawn & Mango with Avocado Mousse, Beef Rendang, Sambal Kangkong, Shrimp Paste Chicken & Crabmeat & Seafood Fried Rice

Beef rendang and shrimp chicken were probably the best  executed hot items in this buffet. The beef was very tender and tasty where the shrimp pasted chicken was well marinated. The kangkong was pretty ordinary and the fried rice was tasteless.

Live D24 Durians

Though the crab didn't manage to wow and satisfy me but the durian definitely worthy to be the star of the day! I almost thought was Mao Shan Wan but was just D24. The quality of the durian was really super! Fleshy, sweet and creamy!

There are some other durian & hot desserts available too...

Durian Mousse Cake, Durian Cheese Cake and Tiramisu

The tiramisu was nice and quite speical too... tiramisu in chocolate tart casing.

Durian Pengat

For some of my colleagues, they enjoyed the durian dessert more than the live durian. This was their favourite but not for me, I prefer the live ones.

Durian Ice Cream

This can be forgotten and don't waste your calories on this..lol!

Hot Dessert - Foo Chok Pak Kor & Cheng Teng

If durian dessert doesn't suit you, there are a few types of hot desserts and fresh fruits available too.
