Lunch on board SQ - BKK to SG

29th Nov 09

Return flight from Bangkok via SQ, we were given a lunch. My choice was Pork with rice. Surprisingly nice as the rice was grainy not the soggy type and the soya pork was very tasty too. Served with coconut agar agar, it's light and refreshing. Portion was quite big yet I still manage to finish it.

Bella Napoli Pizzeria, Bangkok

28th Nov 2009

Instead of going for authentic Thai food in Bangkok, our 3 night's dinners ended at friend's place and the last night we had real authentic Italian Pizza delivery instead. Bella Napoli Pizzeria is an authentic Italian restaurant that offers delivery to nearby condo and they happen to be just right beside Le Raffine at Sukhumvit. The pizza was indeed very good and I had no regret of giving up the Thai fare for this.

The pizza crust was thin and chewy, definitely was baked in a stone fire oven. Tried 3 types and all I liked it. Definitely going to visit them the next time as I heard that their pasta are very good too.

Nam Sing Restaurant

28th Nov 09

Nam Sing located in Bangkok Chinatown, a Chinese Restaurant that specialised in fresh seafood, shark fin and bird nest. Though there are many similar restaurant around that area and not that their prices are cheaper but everytime we still ended up at this same restaurant. Probably we like the cleanliness and neat ambience. Their food was pretty alright and has been consistent all these years.

Shark fin in thick broth

Rich & flavourful thick stock with small fin all over. Very satisfying as each of us had a pot.

Side to be added to the Shark Fin Soup

Deep Fried Squids

Fresh & thick squid coated with crispy batter. Simple and nice.

Grilled Pork Neck

This was a disappointment. I remember the last time was so yummy. The pork was a bit dry and bland for our liking.

Stir Fry Dou Mai

Stir fry w/garlic and oyster sauce. Very tasty and good "wok hei".

Salted Fish Fried Rice

Not bad but not that fantastic.

We didn't order bird nest for dessert as all of us were too full. Total bill for 4 was THB2,000 so it's about SGD86.00. Quite expensive for the locals but we felt still value for money if compared it to Singapore.

Shop, Eat & Shop Again...

26th to 28th Nov 09

The 3 days we spent in Bangkok, all we did was shop, eat and shop again! Here's some of the yummies we had...

Charcoal Roasted Coconut @ Chatuchak Weekend Market

Charcoal roasted coconut is exceptionally refreshing and sweet. Is different from the normal coconut drink, it's more fragrant. Do try one if you visit Bangkok!

Coconut Ice Cream @ Chatuchak Weekend Market

A new dessert I saw at Chatuchak. I'm always very impressed with the Thai's creativity and there's always something new in the weekend market. The coconut ice cream is light and not too sweet, the peanut toppings and scrapped coconut flesh were perfect compliment to it. We like it very much.

Mister Donut @ Platinum Mall

Donuts seem to be still very popular and is seem every where in Bangkok and the Thai love sweet stuff.

Penn Crepe @ Platinum Mall

The crispy crepe was also one of our fav snack and sure will get one from this stall at Platinum mall.

9th Cafe @ Siam Paragon

After so much shopping, we took a teabreak at 9th Cafe at Siam Paragon - One of Bangkok most luxurious Shopping Mall. We had some refreshing juices and a slice of Strawberry Shortcake to share. The cake was surprising good, very soft and light.

Homecooked Dinner @
friend's place (Le Raffine @ Sukhumvit)

One of the day, we visited a friend's luxurious condo and stayed there for a simple pasta and fruits salad dinner prepared by her. Very impressive private swimming pool in the condo. Wow, how we wish we can own one too.

The Platinum Food Center 6 FL.

27th Nov 09

Platinum Fashion Mall - A wholesale fashion mall. We spend half a day there and had a light lunch at the 6th storey Food Centre. This food court serve a great variety of food from Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Vegetarian, Halal, Dessert, Snacks, Fruits and Beverages. It's using a value card system starting from THB100.

Combination Beef Noodle Soup

Stall P1 Stewed Beef with Noodle Claypot
Beef Noodle also one of my fav Thai food which I will definitely have whenever I'm in Bangkok. This one was very rich and a bit salty for my liking.
Hoy Tod (Fried Oyster)

Stall - P11 Shell to Fry
This was nice but quite different from our local version as it was fried till crisp and served over a bed of bean sprout.

Buffet Breakfast @ Bangkok Sky Restaurant

26th - 29th Nov 09

During our 3 nights stay at Baiyoke Sky, we enjoyed the complimentary buffet breakfast very much. The spread was pretty good and you can have a panorama view of Bangkok while having breakfast.
