Ju Shin Jung Samgaetang

Last night we decided to have Korean food. Suppose to be at Doong Ji but it was not open for dinner yet when we arrived. So I suggested to go another Korean restaurant which is nearby.

Ju Shin Jung was featured on the TV before for it's value for money buffet but didn't try. Recently been having too much buffet so decided to go for ala carte instead. Since my family were not very familiar with the korean food so I made the order. I ordered one set of main course, 2 side dishes and a soup to share. The serving portion was big. Actually we should try the ginger chicken since is their house special but I forgotten about it... so blur! Furthermore the waitresses were not very helpful too and didn't bother to make any recommendation since we are not familiar.

These were what we had: Naksan Bulgogi - Spicy Grilled Octopus & pork belly (M-S$40.00)

Wrap it up with lettuce is one of the serving style or just eat it with rice. It was quite spicy and appetizing. The octopus & pork was tender and juicy when it was just cooked. The medium size can serve up to 4 person eventhough the menu stated 1-2. Yummy! A must try!

The pork & octopus was stir fry with mixed veg and fresh mushroom with the spicy bulgogi sauce and hot pepper paste by the waitress on the serving table.

Panjun - Seafood Pancake ($S20.00)

I think this is quite overpriced eventhough is nice. I like the taste, it's crispy on the exterior and moist inside with bits of prawns, leeks and spring onions all over.

Jaban - Grilled Saba Fish (S$15.00)

This is a safe choice to order at any Jap/Korean restaurant. The fish is big and fresh. Nice!
Kimchi Soup (S$14.00)
This is a total disappointment and I think I cook a better one... Too much chilli powder and kimchi. More like a stew than soup.

We were served 8 side dishes which is included in the meal. A great appetizers especially the kimchi and pepper paste salad were yummy. Standard charge of $1 per person for towel and barley tea. Ya talking about the towel, I find the towel was cool! It's in a compress coin shape tablets and just a little water to expand it. First time I came across this... Cute!

The meal ended with free heart shaped water melon and cinnamon ginger tea. The ginger tea was too sweet, none of us drink it. Overall, this korean restaurant served good quality food except for the kimchi soup and the not very friendly waitress. I think I will be back to try their ginger chicken soup. After dinner, we head over to Obolo which is just opposite to buy some cakes home.
