Wang Thai Kitchen

5th May 2010

A rather newly opened Thai's kitchen has come to Toa Payoh Lor 4, serving very affordable and nice Thai food that catered more to our local taste, more mild tasting. Recent years there are many this sort of Thai restaurants even in hawker stalls are booming up all over Singapore and mostly operated by Thai. Now we can enjoy real authentic Thai food in Singapore economically.

Wang Thai Kitchen occupied a whole shop space at the ground floor of HBD flat and turned it into a cosy family restaurant. How I wish they are just below mine. Service is very good and friendly. No GST and service charge. Dinner for 4 for the following items with 2 ice tea only came up to about S$38.00. Wow really quite a steal and value for money. Though I still prefer Nahkon Kitchen but this is so near home. Definitely want to go back again to try their specialities especially the pork knuckles.

Tom Yum with Thai Fresh Mushroom - S$3.00

Creamy based tom yum. Very appetizing and flavourful though only mushroom was added.

Tanghoon Seafood Salad - S$10.00

Quite nice but very different from what I expect. The real authentic one was not laddened with so much sauce and has no chilli sauce added.

Thai Fish Cake - S$3.00

Nice chewy texture.

Fried Garlic Chicken - S$5.00

Not bad too. Very crispy and garlicky.

Thai Style Omelette with Prawn - S$6.00

This dish can never go wrong at anywhere but I think this one was fluffier.

Thai Salted Egg Fried Rice - S$5.00

Very special and fragrant with salted egg yolk topping.

Pineapple Fried Rice - S$3.00

Every dish we had that evening though was simple but all quite nice. Will be back soon for more...

Tried them and found it disappointing. May not be what I thought as authentic Thai, as it seems to be lacking in flavor for most of it dishes...
