Hong Kong Street Family Restaurant

3rd Oct 2010

There are many Hong Kong Street Family Restaurants in Singapore and I really not sure which one is the original one or are they all related. I visited the one at Balestier before and they served almost the same type of dishes. Their signature dishes are the same too, like San Lor Hor Fun, Prawn Paste Chicken and Assam Fishhead. Anyway the one at Novena Garden seem to be very popular and always very crowded. I went to try with my family on one of our Sunday dinner. Overall the food and pricing are decent.

San Lor Hor Fun

I always like this type of hor fun and this one was pretty nice. The fish was very fresh and the hor fun was smooth with nice wok hei.

Prawn Paste Chicken

Deep fried to perfection, crispy on the outside and juicy in the inside.

Assam Fish Head

Love the sauce, it was so appetising.

Bittergourd & Pork Ribs with Black Bean Sauce

This was not very nice, flavour was very shallow and not well braised.

Vegetables with Braised Abalone Mushroom

Nice vegetables dish but would prefer it to be less oily.

There's another restaurant called Hua Seafood @ Novena Ville, jus few steps from this current Hong Kong street family restaurant. It is opened by the same group of pp who worked in HKSFR. No service charge and no GST. Most items are cheaper too. They had many more choice too, eg crabs.
