Amici Authentic Italian Restaurant

23th Oct 2009

After class at Shermay's, met up with my friends for dinner at Holland Village. We had no idea what to have for dinner and landed ourselves in this Italian restaurant at the back lane of HV. The restaurant is quite small and cramp with very dim lighting. It was almost full house when we went in at about 7pm. All of us ordered pasta, thought it will be good since it was an authentic Italian restaurant... but was not good enough to impress and earn a return visit.

Frito Ai Calamari - S$12.90

Deep fried squid served with greens. This was nice, the squid was soft and tender coated with crispy and flavourful batter.

Pane All'aglio (5pcs) - S$4.90

Traditional Italian toasted garlic bread. Just normal.

Crema Di Fungi - S$7.90

Wild mushroom cream soup. Not bad, very generous with the mushrooms & herbs. My friends liked it but too thick for my liking.

Linguine Di Gamberi Al Sugo Di Pomodoro - S$25.90

Crayfish and assorted seafood with linguine served in spicy tomato basil sauce. This was recommended by the waitress. J had this and she think it was quite nice. I tasted some and felt that the pasta was too soft and overcooked but the sauce was appetising and flavourful.

Spaghetti Nero Di Calamari E Merluzzo - S$20.90

Pasta with squid ink served with 2 tiny pieces of fried cod and some squid rings. This was my order. Again, the pasta was not al-dente and the sauce lack richness. Maybe it will be nicer if I add some pamersan cheese which I forgotten. It just couldn't motivate me to finish all of it.

Fettuccine Alla Russa - S$19.90

Fettuccine with smoked salmon and caviar served in vodka cream sauce. H's order as she always liked cream sauce. The fettuccine was too overdone. Really very soft and almost soggy after soaking in the cream sauce for awhile. However, credit had to be given to the sauce. It was really tasty and they were generous with the smoke salmon too.

Tiramisu - S$10.90

With DBS credit card promotion, we only paid S$1.00 for it. Super value for money! I heard this is their signature dessert. Yes, it was nice and quite highly infused with liquor. May not be suitable for children. We only ordered one slice to share among the 3 of us but we can't even finish it as it was quite sweet too.
