1 for 1 @ It's All About Taste

15th Dec 2009

DBS & OCBC are having 1 for 1 promotion at It's All About Taste @ Ibis Hotel. The menu is very simple, it consists of 20 Singapore's famous local delight. You can order any 3 or 4 or 5 items at S$15++/S$18++/S$22++. So with the 1 for 1 promotion going on, it's quite a good deal. To taste various hawker delights in tapas style in a modern and cosy hotel cafe ambiance with rather competent services.

All sets are served in tapas style.

Out of the 20 items, we tried 14 of them.

Nasi Lemak

Among the 14 dishes we tried, Nasi Lemak scored the highest. The rice is very fragrant and sambal was nice too.

Chilli & Pepper Crab Claw w/Mantou
BBQ Stingray

The crab suppose to be the signature dish but we don't find it nice especially the pepper crab was too salty for our liking. The stingray was pretty good, moist and tasty.

Fish Curry w/Roti Prata
Assorted Satay

I tasted a bit of the prata and find it quite nice but didn't try satay. My uncle commented not bad. There were 3 sticks per serving.

Roasted Duck
Wok Fried Beef

The duck was on the dry side but the wok fried beef was pretty nice. I wish I had a bowl of rice to go with it.

Char Kway Teow
Fried Hokkien Mee

Though can't compare these to those served in famous hawker stall but these were the healthier version. I find it not bad, not so oily and yet able to taste the authentic flavour of 2 Singapore's popular hawker delight.

Carrot Cake
Laksa

The carrot was dry and a bit bland for my liking. As for the laksa, my aunt commented normal.

Popiah
Wok Fried Green

The popiah was just normal and the green was blanched instead of wok fried.

Tropical Fruits
Cheng Tng

Dessert @ S$4.00++ per serving

Dessert is not included in the 1 for 1 promotion.

Overall, the food was generally average but the ambiance and service are good. With the promotion, I don't mind going back again. If without the 1 for 1, I don't think is that worth it.
