Festive feast at Cafe Mosaic

A tradition for my family to have a feast on Christmas. After doing some research, I decided to book the buffet dinner at Cafe Mosaic. Though most of the reviews I read rated it as average only but I still went for it. As we were a group of 10 and I didn't wish to burn a big hole on my uncle's pocket...lol! The price was pretty reasonable at Cafe Mosaic for festive season as compared to other hotel's buffet! And the buffet came with a serving of wine per person.

Triple Three @ Aunt's Birthday Dinner

29th May 2011

Celebrated Aunt's birthday at Triple Three, went for the International buffet, using the DBS credit card 1 for 1 promotion. We chose buffet because Aunt loves it especially for the fresh oysters.

Triple Three located in Meritus Mandarin Hotel, popular for it's buffet. The spread is not very huge but has a good combination. Some of the items like sashimi, roast beef, pan fried cod fish & tempura deserve a mention as all were very good!

L’Espresso - Revisited

16th April 2011

L'Espresso at Goodwood Park Hotel serves one of the best English Hi-Tea in Singapore. Revisited recently with few of my colleagues to celebrate Sharon's birthday. We had a wonderful time at the comfortable and cosy lounge on a lazy afternoon enjoying the savoury and sweet little treats. I am glad that the quality of the food is still as good as my first visit which was almost 2 years ago.

The Dining Room @ W.O.W Day Buffet!

23 Mar 2011

After reading Jane's post on W.O.W at The Dining Room, I was sold! This was too good to be missed. Women Only Wednesday buffet promotion, ladies get to enjoy the Wednesday buffet at half price (usual price S$58++). With a group of 6 colleagues (of course all ladies!), we made our way there on one of the Wednesday before the promotion ended in March 2011.

The spread was not very extensive but quality of the food were good enough to satisfy. Not to be missed were the roast beef and dessert section. Local hot dishes like Hokkien mee, braised duck and steamed chicken were all executed pretty well. We enjoyed ourselves very much. Some of my colleagues preferred this to Greenhouse at Ritz Carlton where we went last year also having similar promotion.

Ambiance is nice and services are good too!

Todai International Seafood and Sushi Buffet Restaurant - A Pictorial

16 Mar 2011

Todai is now in Singapore, Marina Bay Sands. Read lots of rave reviews on them so suggested to celebrate Aunt Peggy's birthday there. The spread is pretty impressive except that most of the buffet plates were sparsely filled probably due to the small crowd on weekdays. Another disappointment was oyster was not served on weekdays. Still we had an enjoyable evening dining at Todai. I will want to come back again on a weekend.

Porridge Buffet @ Quality Cafe - Revisit

27 Feb 2011

It's been awhile since I last dined at Quality Cafe for it's Porridge buffet which is my aunt's fav! My recent visit was not a good one, price increase and the spread not as interesting but still forever crowded!  The buffet mainly made up of 3 sections - Porridge dishes, Asian delight & Dessert.

A variety of sides dishes ...

Steamed chicken and braised duck were more outstanding, the rest were just so so only.

Plaza Brasserie

13th Nov 2010

A treat from my uncle at Plaza Brasserie. Highly recommended by HGW for it's value for money and quality spread buffet. However, I find it a bit over rated though the food was decent but the spread was not very impressive, especially the dessert was quite limited. If without the credit card discount, I don't think it's worth paying that much. Anyway thanks uncle for the dinner treat.

Seafood Buffet Dinner (Fri to Sun)
Adult S$45++ / Child S$22++

Oyster was fresh and plump. Sashimi was normal and limited to salmon and tuna only. Tempura and chilli crab were quite a delight.

Roast beef was disappointing, very tough. Herbal prawn, laksa and chicken rice were pretty decent.

I only enjoyed the refreshing glass jelly.

Global Kitchen

15 Jul 2010

Global Kitchen is one of the dining outlet in Pan Pacific Hotel. Other than serving ala carte, the restaurant offers lunch and dinner buffet daily, high-tea and brunch on weekends. I was there for dinner with some ex-colleagues on a weekday evening enjoying the 1 for 1 promotion. However the spread and quality of the buffet was quite disappointing though the ice cream and some of the cakes were not too bad. I was only impressed with the various types of tea served. We did not eat much too as the restaurant was very crowded and almost every station need to queue. Refill of food was slow too. If not for the 1 for 1 promotion, it's really not worth to pay $48++ for the buffet.

Straits Kitchen - Revisit

9 Jul 2010

Straits Kitchen is a Halal certified restaurant that served Asian buffet. This is one of the very authentic local buffet that featured only Chinese, Malay & Indian (the 3 main races in Singapore) cuisines from appetizer, main to dessert. My first visit was sometimes in Feb 2010 and was a rather pleasant one. Revisited Straits Kitchen again recently, it's a work affair dinner. The menu is still the same & cooking is consistent so no surprises and disappointment. Here's some of the food I shared with fellow colleagues...

10 @ Claymore

28 May 2010

Celebrated Aunt's birthday at 10 @ Claymore in Pan Pacific Orchard. We went for the International buffet that comes with free flow of coffee and tea. The spread was rather small but was good enough for my family as we enjoyed the buffet pretty much. The food quality were rather decent especially love the cold Japanese noodles. The dessert section was interesting and nice too. As for my aunt she really enjoyed the fresh oysters, it was real big and juicy. The only thing I will complain was sashimi and sushi are missing which are usually included in most International buffet.

The restaurant ambiance and service are wonderful. The staff was very attentive to us through out the dinner. With credit card promotion, we paid less than $40 per pax. Manage to snap photos of almost all the counters except for the soup and Chinese food section.
