Sin Hoi Sai Seafood Restaurant

31st Jan 2010

Have a quick zi char dinner w/family at Sin Hoi Sai after my workshop that Sunday. An non-aircon seafood restaurant that carried a variety of live seafood and served zi char dishes too. However, the pricing is on the high side as compared to other zi char's. We picked some of the not so expensive dishes and total bill still came up to about S$70+ for the 4 of us. Noticed that they have quite a few staffs and seem to be quite pushy too, kept recommending dishes to us which we disliked.

Pork Ribs & Chicken Feet Soup with "Fen Guo"

I think the name is "Fen Guo", some kind of root which has cooling effect. The soup was quite nice.

Poached Squid with Garlic Oil & Soya Sauce

A very simple way to prepare the squid that let you taste the sweetness and freshness of the squid. I quite like this but aunt find it nothing special.

Claypot Pork Liver

This was a bit too sweet & dark for my liking and the liver tenderness was uneven. Some of them was overcooked and some was pretty ok.

French Bean w/Dried Shrimp & Raddish
Very ordinary nothing special.

Hokkien Mee

Nice! Very rich in flavour though still can't compare to the KL Hokkien mee.
