Texas Chicken @ Nex

3 Jan 2011

Texas Chicken was back to Singapore again months ago. I remembered I used to like it very much during my teenage days and always preferred them to KFC for the fried chicken was big and juicy. Last time, once a while after school, with friends we would chill out at the Wisma or the one near Coronation Plaza branch. Those were the days...

With a few colleagues went shopping at Nex again after work. We wanted to have a quick dinner so settled it at Texas Chicken. Ordered a set meal for 4 paxes to share which came with 8 pcs of chicken, 4 biscuits, 2 Large sides and 4 drinks. Approx. $7-$8 per person.

Chicken available in Original & Spicy version. So is the chicken still fare well. Indeed yes, all of us like it very much but the size of the chicken was not as big as last time. The chicken was well seasoned and fried, very crispy on the outside and juicy inside. I like the biscuit too, very fluffy and tasted so good on its own. No jam needed.

We actually wanted coleslaws but was sold out for the day. The fries were good but the mashed potatoes were not so nice. As for the onion ring was just a bit too oily.

BK Steakhouse Burger @ Burger King

20th Dec 2010

Have a taste of Angus beef for just less than $8.00! Why not! Yes this Angus beef buger was one of Burger King newly launched burger for a limited period only. Love the crispy onion in the burger which give the burger a nice bite. The beef was tender and juicy. For just S$5.95 for the burger itself, I really have not much to complain.

Arnold's Fried Chicken

18th April 2010

Sunday dinner with family. Brought Aunt to Arnold's as she never try before. Arnold's is one of the top 3 famous fried chicken restaurant in Singapore. The other 2 are KFC and Popeye's. My favourite is Popeye's, Arnold's will be 2nd and last goes to KFC. Arnold's seasoning is more Asian flavoured and what I like about them is they use farm fresh chicken only. I had tried the delivery many times at work but dining at the restaurant was the first time. It's defintely more delicious than delivery. The chicken was piping hot and so juicy. Aunt liked it very much. We went to the one at Hougang to avoid crowd at the City Plaza outlet.

Spring Chicken Meal - S$9.70

Crispy on the outside, the inside was juicy and tender. That's where you know it's really fresh farm chicken was used instead of frozen chicken.

Criss-Cut Fries - S$2.90

Very nice and crispy! To me is best fries in town. Stay crispy through out.

2 Person Combo Meal - S$21.40

Not as juicy and tender as the spring chicken but still quite nice.

2 sides - Coleslaw & Fries

Popeyes is at Toa Payoh!

[Closed]
14th Jan 2010

Popeyes Chicken & Biscuit has opened a branch in Toa Payoh Central and it's so convenient for me. I prefer their fried chicken as compared to KFC. Popeye's chicken is crispier and yet the meat still maintain it's juiciness. As for the side dishes, the mashed potatoes and the biscuit are my favourite. Last Thursday, I went to buy back for dinner after work for my aunt to try since she never try before. Glad that she enjoyed it too.

Carl's Jr @ Plaza Singapura

9th Dec 2009

The day where M1 launched iPhone, I was one of the patience freak who queue 3 hours plus at PS's M1 to get my iPhone. While waiting we had our dinner at Carl's Jr, a more pricey fast food chain that specialised in burgers like Burger King. Though you pay a little more but for the size of their burgers, the thick cuts of fries & onion rings and free flow of drinks, I think it's rather value for money.

Portobello Mushroom Thickburger Set - S$14.90

The original Thickburger. Charbroiled 100% Angus Beef Patty, Portobello mushrooms, 2 slices of Swiss cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, red onion & mayonnaise on a toasted sesame seed bun. Very satisfying for any ultimate meat lover, each bite was bursting with juicy grilled meaty flavor and went well with the Portobello mushroom slices.

Carl's Catch Fish Sandwiches Set - S$8.70

If you want somethings lighter, go for this! A thick slice of battered fish, tomatoes, lettuces & mayonnaise on a toasted sesame seed bun. Almost like eating fish & chip with bread. It's was not bad but would be better if it was piping hot when served. As the fish tend to turn soggy easily.

Onion Rings

French Fries

I liked the thick cuts fries and onion rings very much. Definitely are one of the best among all the fast food chain in Singapore.

Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits

17th Sep 2009

The evening before departing to Tokyo, we had a quick dinner at Terminal 1 - Eatz @ The Terrace. Popeyes chicken serves crispy fried chicken, cajun fries, mashed potatoes & biscuit. Used to be available in T1 only but now they have outlets at T3 & Singapore Flyers. We ordered a combo set to share.

The chicken was nice and not as oily as KFC but the breast meat was rather dry. However, some chicken parts were extremely big and some very small. If you prefer to choose the part of the chicken, there will be a surcharge.

The cajun fries was very nice. I like the biscuit too, very fluffy and taste really good with the strawberry jam. As for the mashed potatoes, I still prefer the KFC version.
