Unique Seafood Market @ Ah Yat Seafood

3rd July 2011

It's my younger brother birthday and he is a seafood lover so we decided to go to Unique Seafood Market for a seafood feast. Reasonably priced live seafood with all year round promotion, 50% off on weekdays (except PH & Eve) and 40% off on weekends. Plus free cooking and preparation of live seafood by the Unique Seafood Market restaurants.

How to order? First, choose between Ah Yat (Hong Kong style cuisine) or Owen (Local style cuisine) and get a table number. Then proceed to Unique Seafood Market which is located right outside both restaurants to browse through the numerous seafood tanks to have your pick. All the seafood you have chosen will be weighed and placed into a basket tagged with table number to be sent to the restaurant. Then at the restaurant, the service crew will check with you, how you want your seafood to be cooked or prepared. We love the cooking style at Ah Yat so we always will go there plus they always give complimentary dessert.

Father's Day Celebration @ Ah Yat

19th June 2011

During special occasion like Father's Day, most restaurants will come up with value for money set menu to attract the crowds. This year Father's Day we chose to dine at Ah Yat Seafood as we saw the ads from the newspaper, the set meal they offered were really attractive and value for money! We were a group of 8 but we had the set meal for 6 pax and added on some dishes from the ala carte menu. However the portion they served were good, some of the dishes were enough for the 8 of us. Overall we had an enjoyable dinner!

The dinner kicked off with a cold dish! Cousin's favourite abalone!

The Ultimate Crab and Durian Buffet @ Sentosa Boardwalk

Just went to this very much rave about buffet last evening with colleagues. This special promotion buffet organised by Sentosa features two of Singaporean's favourites - Crab & Durian. As this buffet only valid from 9th to 26th June 2011, so I schedule to share this dining experience first instead of my backlogs!

The buffet is located at the upper Promontory of Sentosa Boardwalk. The al fresco ambiance is great with harbourview overseeing Sentosa and Vivocity. The setting is typical buffet setup and due to the overwhelming responses, the food ran low pretty fast but they were quick to top up. Service crews were all friendly and helpful. However the food was not as good as expected but the durians did manage to impress! If you are a durian lover then this buffet is still worth trying given it the rather reasonable pricing.

It was really crowded so I only manage to snap a few pictures of the spread.

The Seafood International Market & Restaurant

14th Mar 2010

Celebrated Aunt's Peggy birthday at Seafood International. Though they were being rated rather low in "Hungrygowhere" reviews but my family still decided to give it a try since they have launched a new set of menu this month. The menu on the website looks so tempting and scrumptious but the actual was not so... I think there are more misses than hits but with the kind of pricing we also can't complain much.

There are 40 dishes to choose from and 12 of them are limited to only one serving. Dessert is self service at the buffet table. Out of the 40, we tried 28 of them. As most of them we asked for small serving so we were able to try more dishes. Those dishes that I find it nice are marked with "***". The restaurant ambience is rather comfortable and cosy. Service was surprisingly very good and attentive even though the restaurant was quite crowded that day. Let my photos parade you through the buffet.

Ubin Seafood

Ubin - The original Ubin Seafood People since 1982 located at Joo Chiat. I had my work lunch there on 4/9/09 with bosses & colleagues. The lunch was rather light which was good if not all of us will be very sleepy in the afternoon.

The restaurant was very quiet that day, only 2 tables were occupied including us which I'm quite surprised as the food and pricing was pretty good and reasonable.

Salted Egg Squid

All of us like this very much as the squid was fresh, not overly cooked and salted egg sauce was very yummy!

Steamed Snapper

Freshness was all we looked for in steamed fish and this was perfectly steamed. Just that the fish a bit small...

Chilli Mussel

This was normal nothing to shout for but would prefer the sauce to be more spicy.

Garlic Dou Miou & Sambal Kangkong

We ordered 2 vegetables. Both were nice and the wok hei was good.

Ubin Fried Beehoon

This was one of their signature dish. The beehoon was very tasty and was filled with crab fragrant. I think they used the oil that they deep fried crabs or prawns to fry the beehoon.

Ubin Fried Rice & Seafood Horfun

Fried rice was very malaysian style and most of us like it too. Surprise that the horfun turned out to be good too.

60s Live Seafood

Last night went to a rather desserted place for seafood dinner. Situated in a golf driving range at the Old Turf Club. We managed to locate the restaurant after half an hour search around the area. They are having promotion on Chilli Crab and Deep Fried Soon Hock Fish at $18.00 each (only from Mon-Fri). For other orders, use citibank card to get 50% discount for 2 diners and 25% discount for 4 diners. The ambience was quite cosy and relaxing, a good place for a romantic get away.

Chilli Crab

The chilli crab was quite spicy and was not too sweet, quite nicely cooked up. The crab was good and loaded with roe. Worth to try at $18.00 per crab and the crab was at least above 600g each but limited to one per table. Additional crab will be charged at $4/100g (with citibank credit card promotion, still quite reasonable)

Black Pepper Crab

Black pepper crab, I always prefer this over chilli crab. Thumb up for this, the buttery coarsely grounded black pepper were so nicely coated with the crab. It's simply yummy! I think is one of the best I have tasted

Deep Fried Soon Hock Fish w/Sauce

The fish was very fresh and fried till very crispy, even the bone can be eaten. Nice but the sauce was a bit salty. Worth to eat too at $18.00 each.

Kau Kee Soup w/Salted Egg

This was not so nice as the stock tasted liked maggi chicken stock.

Seafood Hor Fun

This hor fun was delicious but a bit expensive at $10 each for 'S'. I liked the rice noodle texture, chewy and thick. The best was the wok hei! Definitely worth trying!

BBQ Seafood at Farmart

After so many afternoon snack at The Food Safari, we still went for dinner at Farmart (near Old Choa Chu Kang Rd). Weekend... is all about food too, how to slim down????

We were there around 6pm, most of the shops there were closed except for all the eateries and fish spa (therapy) shops. We were all not hungry so we just ordered the BBQ dishes. There were other restaurants & stalls there. These were what we ordered:

The otak & chicken wing were nice. The BBQ was ok only but the price was quite cheap, total bill for the 5 of us was only $77.00 (total 8 items)! If you happen to go there, can give it a try.

Bottle Tree Village Seafood Restaurant

My Birthday Treat - Part 3

Sunday - 9/11/08
After checking out from OCC, we went for a light lunch at Bottle Tree Village. My friends wanted to check out this place so we decided to go there for lunch. We were not very hungry as we had late breakfast so we just ordered 4 of their popular dishes for the 7 of us.

Claypot Mee Tai Bak - Large size @ S$20.00++
I like this dish, it's quite special and I'm going to try cooking it at home.

Cereal Prawns - Large Size @ S$40.00++
The prawns were big and fresh but I find it's not tasty enough.

Special Tofu w/Minced pork & seaweeds - Small size @ S$15.00++
Not very special but was tasty and the tofu was soft & crispy.

Sambal Kangkong - Medium Size @ S$10.00++
Not the best kangkong I had, I'd prefered it to be more spicy.

Our total bill - S$97 plus after 10% disc using Citibank Cr Card.
