Best of Honshu - Japan Trip Day 5 Part II (21st Sep 2009)

The Kiyomizu Temple (清水寺) is known as the "Pure Water Temple", listed in UNESCO World Heritage sites. The temple was founded in 798, and its present buildings were constructed in 1633 and not a single nail used in the entire structure.

Kiyomizu Temple - the main hall is a national treasure and it's cliff edge veranda offers a spectacular panoramic view of Kyoto and it's surroundings.

There is a waterfall - Otowa Waterfall within the temple main hall where it derived it's name - Pure water. The water are divided into 3 separate streams, each stream has a different benefit - Longevity, success at school and fortune love life. Visitors use cups attached to long poles to drink the stream water.

While my uncle's family went up to the temple, I was down at the base where there are plenty of little interesting shops that gave me great shopping pleasures. We were lucky to catch a glimpse of the Geisha, as here is the famous former Geisha district. You have to pay them to for a photo shoot.

Other than handy craft and souvenirs shops, there are many tea house, snacks, biscuit and cake shops around too. Green tea is especially popular and good here.

Had some afternoon snacks of green tea cream puff and crepes at Kiyomizu before we proceed to the next destination.

These were some of the stuff I bought at Kyoto. All about green tea. The green tea Baumkuchen cake  is one of the best I have tasted so far and the green tea Kit kat was really yummy too!

Next we were at Kyoto Station, the tour guide specially arranged to let us experienced a bullet train ride from Kyoto to Shin Osaka which only took less than 10 mins.

Saw this in Kyoto Station, could not help it and took a few shoots of it. Looks so real and delicious!

It was evening when we reached Shinsaibashi (心斎橋) in Osaka. A covered shopping street and is the city's main shopping area.

Dinner was in one of the restaurants in Shinsaibashi. Another similar type of food served, instead of tempura was breaded prawn! And why chawanmushi was always included! We didn't enjoyed nor finish the dinner as we decided to save our stomach for supper.

Beautiful light boxes cover the whole street! The "Glico Man" is an trademark of Osaka that you will not miss at Shinsaibashi!

Takoyaki is an icon of Osaka! A very popular street snack that I adored too. Along the street of Shinsaibashi, there are many stores and shops selling these. There are even Tako snacks and tibits.

We had ramen for our supper at Shi Ten-Noh 四天王! This was definitely one of the best meal in this entire trip. Handmade noodles with deliciously rich and flavourful broth! How can I don't fall in love with...lol! After our supper and since most shops were closed, we walked back to our hotel - Washington Hotel Plaza which is just nearby. It was a long and tiring day and we looked forward to the next day trip to Kobe! Stay tune!
