X'mas Eve 2012 BBQ Party with BFF!

On Christmas Eve, I had a BBQ party at one of my BFF's apartment. Just a few of us so we kept it simple by having a potluck! An enjoyable night with BFF and I thank God for the strong bond we shared. Though we don't meet often but we will make it a point to have a gathering on all the important occasions like X'mas, New Year, CNY and birthdays!

Start a good fire is vital in all BBQ and the chore always landed on the man...lol!

X'mas Celebration 2012 - BBQ & Durian party at work

21st December 2012
Christmas Party at work! Lots of food and fun!

Fellow colleagues were very spontaneous to dress up to the occasion to give us some entertainment at the party! A $20 gift was contributed by all staff for gift exchange. I got myself a 16GB thumbdrive!

X'mas Bake 2012 Part 5 - Log Cakes!

A day before X'mas Eve, my friend Camay came over my place with her daughter and I helped her made 3 log cakes. And this was only my 2nd attempt in making log cakes and glad that she liked it very much.

Very productive afternoon... managed to bake 2 durian and 1 strawberry logcakes (recipe from Valerie's baking class). Actually she wanted to learn how to do it but in the end all done by me...lol! She and her daughter did the decoration!

Christmas Celebration 2011!

Last post of the Year 2011! My Christmas Celebration 2011 began with shopping for X'mas presents and baking for family, colleagues & friends! This year didn't bake much, just baked some Val's chocolate macadamia cookies & fruit cakes.

Lots of time spend baking the cookies and packed them up but it's worth all the effort as I received fabulous feedbacks that they enjoyed my bakes...!

Christmas Eve Dinner at home

My Christmas Eve dinner at home. This has become my family annual affair to have a turkey feast at home on Christmas since I learnt how to bake one from Chef Eric Low 3 years ago. We invited some family friends over for dinner this year so my food has to be enough to serve 12 persons. Though it looked pretty simple but still lots of marketing and planning to be done days before. On the eve, I woke up early to do the preparation. Started by baking a batch of fruit cakes for the guest to bring home after dinner... my door gift for them lol! Then my dear cousin came over to my place in the afternoon to learn how to glaze the Honey Baked Ham and cooked the bean stew for her potluck party. After she left, I started cooking and baking till the guest arrived. By 7.30 pm the dinner was ready to serve!

Watermelon and Feta Cheese Salad

Freshly Crushed Garlic & Parsley Bread

Herb Roasted Turkey

Chicken & Cheese Sausage Stuffing

Honey Glazed Champagne Ham

Side dishes: Bean Stew, Rosemary Roasted Potatoes, Baked Vegetables & Mushroom red wine sauce

Tiramisu

Balance with a slice of sponge cake, used it to whip this up with some ready ladyfingers.

Grapes, jelly and snow jelly dessert brought over by family friends. Something light and refreshing to round up the dinner.

I think age is definitely catching up on me, I was so tired and worn out after a day of cooking! Anyway it's worth the effort when they seem to enjoy my food.

Counting down to 2011... 2 more days left in 2010! Still have tons of backlogs...

Belated & also my 1st Christmas Logcake

1st Jan 2010

The dessert for NYD gathering at BY's was a logcake, my first logcake and also a belated one. Who say logcake can only be eaten on Christmas... we happily ate it on NYD lol!

Thinking hard what to bake to bring over and decided to give Valerie's Logcake a try since I had all the stuff with me. It's a Blackforest Logcake, the inside was a flourless chocolate roll filled with kirsh soaked cherries and choc crunch. Dress it with whipped diary cream with macaphone cheese and kirsh added to it. For the decoration, I added some fresh berries and ornaments. Also, I made full use of the 2 leftover macarons (from Yochana) as decoration which I brought home from office X'mas party. Sprinkled with some choc shaving & powder and my first logcake was borned...

It's not overly sweet and I think most of us enjoyed it. Sorry this is a workshop recipe so I can't share.

Post X'mas Dinner @ Home

27th Dec 09

It's has become a look forward X'mas Dinner @ home for my family since my first successful Roast Turkey dinner last year. This year we had a post dated X'mas dinner instead due to a few of us couldn't make it on the actual day. This year my cousin also came for the dinner which she missed it last year. Though it was tiring to whip up a meal like this but it's definitely worth it when I see everyone of my family members really enjoyed it. Most of the recipes were from Chef Yong's X'mas Workshops that I attended last year.

Mango & Prawn Salad w/Homemade 1000 Island Dressing

Simple and appetizing - Prawn, mango, assorted peppers & romaine lettuce with homemade dressing.

Garlic & Herb Bread

Lurpak butter w/lots of chopped garlic & English parsley spread on French loaf & toast till crispy. Yum...

Traditional Roast Turkey

This year I had learnt to serve it in a nicer way by cutting away the cartilage and assembly it back with just the breast, wings, drums & thigh. Homemade turkey is so yummy as the meat still remain juicy & tender.

Honey Glazed Champagne Ham

Bought the champagne ham from Cold Storage at S$34+, add in clove & glaze it with honey, baked till it caramelised. Serve it with bean stew. Another crowd pleaser too.

Homemade 1000 Island Dressing / Bean Stew to serve with ham / Red Wine Brown Sauce for Turkey / Cheese Sausage Stuffing

Not to forget the red wine brought over by my brother.

Molten Lava Chocolate Cake w/Vanilla Ice Cream

Same dessert as last year. Made this again because all of us like it. Did you see the lava? Lol!

Snow Jelly Dessert

Contributed by Aunt Peggy. Light and refreshing to clear our palates as the dinner came to an end.
